For the first time ever, “password” is no longer the most commonly used, and therefore worst password to use, according to SplashData who compile a list of the worst passwords each year.
According to the list, “123456” is now the worst password to use, and “password” is the second worst.
The 2013 list is slightly unusual, in that it contains a number of references to Adobe and their products, largely thought to be thanks to a large security breach last year that resulted in the passwords of millions of customers being compromised.
The list highlights the importance of using a secure password, such as the kind you can generate using our own “Password Generator“. If your password is on the list, changing it as soon as possible is a good idea!
