Whilst I must confess to having a somewhat limited interest in such sporting occasions, I am greatly interested in the way that events like Andy Murray’s Wimbledon win yesterday affected the internet.
Andy’s first tweet following his win managed to get over 77,000 retweets within an hour.
Can’t believe what’s just happened!!!!!!!

Over 120,000 tweets a minute about the Wimbledon final were sent over the next 12 hours, beating the 116,000 written every minute during the London 2012 Olympics.
Now, that’s an incredible amount of traffic and interaction in anyone’s books, and doesn’t it just go to show that tapping into current affairs is a great way to connect to and engage with fans.
